Visconteo Castle

Discovering one of the "most beautiful villages in Italy", once the capital of lower Ossola, where it is still possible to admire the castle (14th century), the fortress (10th century), the praetorian palace and others vestige of the past. The construction of the Castle is attributed to Giovanni Visconti (mid-14th century). The building, with its round tower, dominates the old village which, with its narrow streets and houses, seems to cling around it. Designed with defensive and military functions, it was incorporated into the perimeter system that encloses the entire Borgo.
