The Fundacion Laxeiro is dedicated to the figure of José Otero Abeledo, artistically known as Laxeiro (Lalín, 1908-Vigo, 1996). It is located in the headquarters of the palace of arts, in Vigo.

Born in rural and traditional Galicia, always fascinated by the stories of the living and the dead he found in Súa Avoa, he builds an innovative work, influenced by Goya, Rembrandt, Gutiérrez Solana, Zuloaga and Corredoyra. Laxeiro's works are often composed of telluric scenes. Laxeiro, during his artistic career, is also influenced by cubism and xeometric painting through the figures of Picasso and Joaquín Torres García.

To date, the Laxiero Foundation, founded in February 200, has about sixty-two works by the master in its permanent collection.
