The Diocesan Museum of Vicenza is located in the heart of the city in Piazza Duomo. The Museum was founded in 2005 by the will of Bishop Pietro G. Nonis and inside it exhibits the most precious and significant works of the historical, cultural and artistic path of the Vicentine Church. The Museum is set up within the large spaces of the Bishop's Palace, combines ancient architecture with a contemporary setting, collects and tells over two thousand years of sacred art from Vicenza, offering a historical and artistic itinerary divided into thematic areas that develops from the Roman and Paleochristian ages up to the contemporary age. In addition, the museum houses a section of minerals, sacred goldsmiths, modern age painting and collections of religious and ethnographic art. Of great value are the finds of ancient workmanship such as the drainage channel from the Roman age and the base of an early medieval tower. The museum's objective is therefore to tell the story of the affirmation of Christianity in Vicenza, from the first traces left on the territory to the most current forms, but also the evidence of an activity that has touched distant and exotic lands.
