The museum route, inaugurated in 2008 and part of the Network of Museums of the Diocese of Bergamo, represents a natural completion of the already rich artistic itinerary that winds through the Parish Church of Vertova and the two sacristies.
The sacred building, with its sober elegance on the outside, contrasts with a stunning and sumptuous interior decoration. The museum rooms, housed in the ancient premises adjacent to the prepositural church and skillfully restored, collect a rich heritage, organized according to thematic exhibition criteria. Among these themes (the Patrons, Marian iconography, subsidiary churches, Good Friday), the Treasure stands out, whose room has recently been renovated and expanded.
The church, sacristies, and museum house works by some of the most renowned artists of the Bergamo baroque scene. The Crucifix by Andrea Fantoni, protagonist of the sacred representation of Good Friday, is accompanied by the statue of the Risen Christ by the same author. Among the paintings, in particular, stands out the “Madonna and Child Enthroned with Saints” by Enea Salmeggia.
