From 1 July to 27 November 2022 Casa di Carlo Goldoni hosts the exhibition " Glass and OperaLirica ", designed and curated by Sandro Pezzoli in collaboration with Chiara Squarcina . International Glass and, after Venice, will be presented in Milan, Naples, Madrid-Alcorcón and Segovia.
With this exhibition, the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia wanted to emphasize the combination of Glass and Lyric to focus on the relationship between two forms of art that are deeply Italian and closely linked to Venice. The lagoon city is in fact famous for the art of blown glass, universally associated with the island of Murano, but it is also the home of the opera house, which came to life here in 1637 with the opening of the San Cassiano. The breath of the singer and the breath of the master glassmaker have that same energy that produces art and beauty. The artists on display have created works related to the world of opera , paying particular attention to some binding requirements: the coherence of the inspiration of work, the presence of a portion of glassy material inside the building , the important dimensioning. The artists, united by an interest in melodrama, belong to various sectors of art: from painting to sculpture, from the world of design to photography, etc. The works were performed using various glass techniques and express concepts inspired by all-round operalyrics, which go beyond the mere aesthetic fact, to deeply engrave in a semantic symbiosis between the two arts, to create a synesthesia between them.
The exhibition itinerary is designed for maximum integration between the works and the existing context. The works are scattered along the articulation of the spaces, from the portego to the halls of the noble floor, following an “aesthetic” logic, to favor the maximum harmony between the existing and the artefacts on display.
