Palazzo Querini Stampalia in Venice is not just a container of the past, but a place in continuous transformation. The contemporary art program of the Querini Stampalia Foundation has for years called artists to dialogue with environments, collections and archives, to take inspiration from them for new works, in the name of continuous experimentation. Some works inhabit these spaces only for the duration of an exhibition, others remain there, left as gifts by the artists themselves: 'intruders' who open new perspectives to the visitor, helping him to read our time, in a continuous comparison between history and future , as is the nature of this cultural institution. It also happens in these weeks, the most intense and interesting period of the year for contemporary art.

Furthermore, on the occasion of the 2024 Art Biennale, two major exhibitions will open at the Querini Stampalia Foundation, which are also eagerly awaited on an international level.

Ilya and Emilia Kabakov. Between Heaven and Earth (14 April – 14 July 2024) is a tribute to Ilya Kabakov one year after his death. Curated by Chiara Bertola and in collaboration with Ilya and Emilia Kabakov Art Foundation, the project commemorates the master of conceptual art, a brilliant experimenter of poetry and the expressive potential of materials in the exhibition space, celebrated as the most important artist born in the USSR and naturalized American of the 20th century. For the first time, some of the Kabakovs' historical installations will dialogue with the ancient environments and art collections of the Foundation, becoming site-specific interventions designed for the space that hosts them.
