The exhibition retraces the long career of the Venetian artist and designer Federica Marangoni, focusing on her special relationship with glass and Murano, from her early works with this material to today. Over the years, the artist has experimented with various materials and technological media, ranging eclectically and interdisciplinary towards all sectors of communication and combining her path as a sculptor with the activity of a designer. In 1970, she opened her Fedra Studio Design in Venice and began using glass, working regularly in many Murano furnaces. She designs design objects for production, as well as glass sculptures and large installations, in which technological media such as video and neon light, combined with the transparency and fragility of glass, make her work unique in the panorama of contemporary art. From the mid-1970s, the use of electronic technology will indeed be one of her main means of expression. From 1976 to 1989, she was an adjunct professor in the Department of Art and Art Education at New York University, where she held seminars and summer courses in Venice with a workshop on glass. She also taught classes and courses at other universities and cultural centers in the United States, exhibiting in numerous international museums and galleries. The current exhibition will be set up in various spaces of the Glass Museum, creating an engaging path in dialogue with the architecture of the venue itself. The entrance will host the work La bricola, originally created as a light installation on a mirrored floor, made for Euro-Domus in Turin in 1971. In the garden, there will be some large multimedia sculptures, including the large rainbow "Continuity" from 2006, created for the patio of the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid. The portico will display some glass works from the 1980s focused on the theme of the garden and its symbolic implications. In the so-called "Room of Lightness," works created between 1987 and 2002 will be exhibited, recalling the concepts of air, light, flight, beauty, archetypes of ancient and at the same time eternal memories.
