From 22 June to 27 February 2022
At the Reggia di Venaria 2021 is a Green year, entirely dedicated to the very current theme of the protection of Nature and environmental sustainability. The key event in this area is the exhibition Una infinita Bellezza. The landscape in Italy from romantic painting to contemporary art which is presented to the press on Monday 21 June, the first day of summer, and opens to the public from 22 June.
Set up in the grandiose spaces of the Juvarra Citroniera until November 1, 2021, the exhibition brings together over 200 works, mostly paintings, but also sculptures and installations, which document the attention and love that many artists have had for the natural environment and specifically for the landscape in Italy, from early romanticism to contemporary art.
The itinerary follows a chronological-geographical fil rouge that intertwines Space and Time, enhancing the Piedmontese context - where the exhibition was born - and the whole North of our Peninsula, without neglecting the important regional schools of Central and Southern Italy, from the end of the 1700s to today.
The twelve sections of the exhibition therefore present, in an exceptional roundup of works, many of large dimensions, the different forms that the representation of the Landscape in Italy has taken over the span of over two centuries of painting: from the romantic poetics of the picturesque and the sublime, to the positivist affirmation of truth, passing through the new divisionist and symbolist researches and the provocations of the avant-gardes, up to the simplifications of Pop Art and the conceptualizations of contemporary art.
The exhibition is enriched by graphics and video projections on the theme of Nature and Landscape created by the MyBossWas studio in Turin.
