The Archaeological Museum of Velletri is located in the sixteenth-century Palazzo Comunale of the city. The museum exhibits finds of extraordinary importance, such as the monumental Sarcophagus of the labors of Hercules. It is one of the most significant works of Roman art, an archaeological unicum of exceptional historical and artistic value, in whose decoration the myth of Hercules takes on particular importance. Today the Archaeological Museum of Velletri proposes a new museum layout of the rich collection, in an evocative itinerary on two floors. It is also enriched with a specialized library, a restoration laboratory and a conference room. The exhibits on display range from the protohistoric to the medieval period following a chronological and thematic criterion, aimed at recomposing the historical framework of the territory.
