After the success of the exhibitions dedicated to the great pioneers of photography Eve Arnold and Dorothea Lange, CAMERA offers a new exhibition featuring another great master of 20th-century photography: the American Margaret Bourke-White.

From June 14 to October 6, 2024, the spaces of the Center will host an exhibition curated by Monica Poggi, which through approximately 150 photographs, will narrate the work, extraordinary life, and high quality of Bourke-White's shots, capable of depicting the complex human experience on the pages of widely circulated magazines - of which the exhibition presents a rich selection - determinedly overcoming gender barriers and boundaries.

The transformations of the world, at the heart of Bourke-White's research, find a place on the cover of the first issue of the legendary magazine LIFE, can be seen in her iconic portraits of Stalin and Gandhi, in the reports on American industry, in the services carried out during the Second World War in the Soviet Union, North Africa, Italy, and Germany, where she documented the entry of US troops into Berlin and the horrors of concentration camps. Forced to abandon photography due to Parkinson's disease, from 1957 Bourke-White devoted herself to her autobiography, Portrait of Myself, published in 1963. She died in 1971 due to complications of the disease.
