A photographic project by Luigi Ghirri in Maranello comes to life in the Project Room of the MAUTO - National Automobile Museum from Thursday, May 2nd to Sunday, June 2nd, on the occasion of EXPOSED Torino Foto Festival. The exhibition, titled Luigi Ghirri. Rosso Ferrari, retraces the work - between commissioned and personal research - that the photographer dedicated to the historic car brand. In the second half of the 1980s, Luigi Ghirri documented the production phases inside the plant: from the designers' offices to the leather processing laboratories to the mechanical workshops, in a narrative focused on those assembly and transformation processes that characterize and unite the automobile and photography. In the same direction is the series dedicated to a scale replica of a Ferrari F40 produced by the company Agostini. The setting, a golf course, and the presence of the child pilot accentuate the sense of surreal suspension that arises from the miniature car. The same sense of estrangement is found in the last section, dedicated to the exhibition set up by Pierluigi Cerri for the 1988 exhibition at the Forte di Belvedere in Florence, where the Renaissance architectures of the background participate in the composition together with some of the most iconic Ferrari models and Cerri's glass structures. The exhibition is complemented by an important nucleus of photographs from the collection of Jacobacci & Partners - a reality that since 1872 recognizes, enhances, and protects the excellences of Italian creativity. This selection of works is part of the same cycle on Ferrari and is the synthesis of a path in which the photographer interprets the identity of the prestigious automotive brand. The images of production, glimpses of the exhibition, but also the interiors of the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, are moments of a story in which the small dimension of a photograph has the power to preserve all the depth of a history. Fifty exhibited shots - 28 from the Luigi Ghirri Archive and 22 from the Jacobacci & Partners Archive - accompanied by the 1990 Ferrari F40 on loan from the Gino Macaluso Foundation for the Historic Car and a fiberglass body of the F40 Baby.
