In 1972, the Civic Gallery of Modern Art in Turin celebrated Fausto Melotti (Rovereto, 1901 - Milan, 1986) with a comprehensive retrospective that established him as one of the masters of Italian art. Over fifty years later, as part of the SECOND RESONANCE, the GAM dedicates a new major exhibition to the artist, realized in collaboration with the Fausto Melotti Foundation in Milan and curated by Chiara Bertola and Fabio Cafagna. An exhibition that traces Melotti's entire production from the abstract beginnings of the thirties to his artistic maturity. The title of the exhibition, Let me entertain you!, is inspired by an ironic statement by the artist and emphasizes the playful and experimental approach that characterized his research. The exhibition presents over one hundred and fifty works, coming from public and private collections, and is structured around the substantial core of works preserved by the GAM, including the large Ascending Modulation (1977), located in the museum garden. EXHIBITION PATH The exhibition is divided into eight sections, ordered according to a chronological and thematic progression that highlights Melotti's expressive constants. The heart of the exhibition is represented by a setup, architecturally enclosed in the internal rooms of the visit path, which evokes the artist's studios in Milan (via Leopardi) and Rome (via Margutta), spaces of intense creativity in different periods of his career.
