Since 2022, under the direction of Davide Quadrio, the MAO has inaugurated a program of artist residencies and site-specific commissions which identifies contemporary art as the means to encourage the birth of new interpretations and plural narratives, as well as the engine of valorisation of the museum heritage, in a virtuous dialogue capable of generating unexpected connections.

On the occasion of Artissima 2023, the MAO is pleased to present to the public four new prestigious commissions resulting from this multi-year project: The Serpent Ritual by Marzia Miglior, Le son de la pierre by LEE Mingwei (both in residence at the Museum for the two-year period 2022 -2023), Flying Kodama by Kengo Kuma and Gigli, wild boars, some carp and then rabbits, chickens and donkeys in large quantities by Francesco Simeti, in residence at the MAO starting from October 2023.

All the works will be visible by purchasing the entrance ticket to the permanent collections.
