Termoli, 12 July 2021. From 15 September 2021 to 16 January 2022 the exhibition LISETTA CARMI. Cheerful voices in the dark, curated by Luigi Fassi and Giovanni Battista Martini, brings the work of one of the most important Italian photographers of the twentieth century to the MACTE Museum of Contemporary Art in Termoli: an ambitious project, witness of a common feeling, and of a landscape natural and anthropological shared between Sardinia and Molise. 70 photographs taken by Lisetta Carmi between 1962 and 1976 in Sardinia, together with unpublished archive materials, make up, in the first contemporary art museum in Molise, a story capable of transcending geographical boundaries. “Thanks to this exhibition we are building a metaphorical bridge between Sardinia and Molise - underlines Caterina Riva, Director of MACTE - made possible by the extraordinary images created by Lisetta Carmi and the careful curatorship of Luigi Fassi and Giovanni Battista Martini. I am happy that a new audience will be able to discover the work of a central figure of the Italian twentieth century, and to embrace a common natural, social and anthropological landscape with their eyes "The exhibition is reconfigured for the MACTE spaces, emphasizing those features in common that characterize the landscape of Southern Italy: shots of the landscape that changes with human intervention, waterways, pastoralism and the mountains are accompanied by portraits of social life, work and celebrations. Two rooms of the MACTE host a selection of works from the museum's permanent collection that articulate different interpretations of “landscape”, as in the works of the Termoli Prize Collection by Elisa Montessori, Bianca Santilli, Mario Schifano and Giulio Turcato.
