The Central Institute for Graphics is a museum of international importance created to preserve, protect and promote a heritage of works that document graphic art in its different types. It is based in Rome, in the architectural complex consisting of Palazzo Poli by Giuseppe Valadier and Palazzo della Calcografia the building, on which the Trevi Fountain rests. 2008, with the transfer of the collections of the National Prints and Drawings Department, marks the definitive rebirth of the Trevi Fountain building as an important cultural center. The collections of matrices, prints, drawings, artist videos and photographs are supported by laboratories specialized in restoration and by a printing house with centuries of experience. Among the historical collections held by the institute, there are 5,024 plates from the Vasari photographic studio, one of the oldest Italian dynasties operating in the field of photography. Among those engraved there are collections of many artists, including Giovanni Battista Piranesi and Luca Ciamberlano. The organization of exhibitions and events for the promotion and enhancement of graphics or the collections of the Central Institute of Graphics is an integral part of the communication, research, study and commitment of the entire Institute.
