It is November 2011 when the Swatch Art Peace Hotel is inaugurated in Shanghai, a place where artists from all over the world can stay and work immersing themselves in one of the most interesting cultural areas of the international art scene. Since then, the Swatch artist residency has hosted more than 400 artists from 54 countries: different cultures, disciplines and generations who have contributed to building a kaleidoscope of ideas, talents, projects, dreams. A springboard of energy and creativity towards a new, different and better world.

The exhibition “WELCOME! 10 years of Swatch Art Peace Hotel ", at the MAXXI National Museum of 21st Century Arts from 1 to 24 October 2021, is an invitation to enter the world of this residence through the works of 19 artists from 10 different countries, to tell the story of diversity, inclusiveness, variety and richness of the languages of a creative community that grows every day.

After the stops in Paris, Venice, Biel, Milan and Locarno, the project now arrives in Rome, at MAXXI, as part of a 12-month collaboration, which began in 2020 on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of MAXXI and which continues in 2021 to celebrate this other important anniversary.
