From 7 December to 15 January 2023
For five years now, the Studio Visit program has been inviting contemporary designers to propose a personal interpretation of the work of the masters present in the MAXXI Architecture Collection. For this edition, reflecting on the recent proliferation of the so-called Metaverse platforms, which aim to reproduce real estate market models through the sale of virtual land, the Space Popular propose a civic approach to virtual urban planning.
In L'Architettura della Città Rossi considers subjective experience over time, presenting the city as a sequence of spatial experiences which, while unique to each of us, remain "permanent, universal and necessary". According to Space Popular this notion is more similar to what the real experience of mobility in virtual spaces should be than what the so-called Metaverse platforms have proposed so far.
Search History therefore proposes the experience of moving through the virtual environments of the Immersive Internet (which is the only ever-changing and non-mappable Metaverse) through a tribute to Rossi. In a continuous movement, the Alcantara fabrics immerse us in a soft and changeable architecture, whose fluid motion constantly composes new landscapes, looking beyond the physical limit of the material and allowing us to glimpse new perspectives. Alcantara enhances this reading by overcoming boundaries, lending itself to bold cuts, unique prints and complex textures.
