closed Tribute to Claudia Gian Ferrari

Curated by: Anne Palopoli

The show

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the death of the scholar, gallery owner and collector, MAXXI pays tribute to her with a focus in the museum room dedicated to her.

With the intention of promoting, disseminating and making accessible the art she loved most, in the last years of her life she committed herself to important donations to enrich the patrimony of various public collections. In 2010, he donated 58 works from the collection originally housed in his Roman home in front of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore to MAXXI. A gesture of great generosity and trust towards an institution that was then taking its first steps.

In a path that goes from 1970, with works by Pier Paolo Calzolari and Urs Lüthi among others, to 2006 with Bruna Esposito and Muhammad-Imran Qureshi, the Gian Ferrari collection tells the ferments and trends of thirty years of the history of contemporary art.
