From 19 January to 25 February 2024
On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Academy, Maestro Pistoletto, probably the most influential living Italian artist on the current international scene, visited the Academy and proposed a selection of some of his pieces to be exhibited in situ. The first, entitled Pozzo mirror and already installed, was expressly conceived for the Temple of Bramante. The two that will complete the intervention are his iconic Venus of rags – “an attempt to unite the beauty of the past and the disaster of the present”, as the artist himself expresses it – and Love Difference-Mare Mediterraneo, a table profiled on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, a work chosen by maestro Pistoletto to be the semester of the Spanish presidency of the European Union, to recall the need for dialogue between the countries that discovered the Mediterranean, which coincided with objectives set by the Spanish Government during its presidency.
