The exhibition pays tribute to what has gone down in history as the most important Italian art exhibition in the Thirties.

The title reveals one of the defining elements of the 1935 Quadriennale, namely its ability to compare the generation of the then masters (Giorgio de Chirico, Arturo Martini, Giorgio Morandi, Gino Severini, to name just a few of the most famous), with young artists who would soon emerge (Corrado Cagli, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Mario Mafai, Pericle Fazzini).
Of that memorable edition, the exhibition reflects some aspects through exceptional works - some of which are almost unpublished - that tell of a complex but very rich season, from the legacies of the avant-garde and the Novecento to the dominant trends of the historical moment, between Scuola Romana, tonalism, primordialism, Second Futurism, abstractionism.
