The Nicola Del Roscio Foundation presents, from Friday 22 September 2023 to Thursday 7 December 2023 , a new exhibition entitled "Lightning governs everything" , a solo exhibition by Francesco Arena and the second appointment of the #Project Room cycle of the spaces in via Crispi 18, conceived by Nicola Del Roscio and edited by Davide Pellicciari and Carlotta Spinelli . The cycle of exhibitions designed specifically for the Project Room of the Nicola Del Roscio Foundation presents itself as an observatory on contemporary Italian artistic production, in which some of the most interesting Italian artists are invited to propose experimental interventions that reflect on urgent contemporary issues.

“Lightning governs everything” is an exhibition project in which some of the characters that Francesco Arena has intercepted or found in multiple contexts converge and overlap: from Martin Heidegger to Glenn Gould, from Jacques-Louis David to Cy Twombly , from Paul Engelmann to Ludwig Wittgenstein . Ranging from philosophy to music to art in its most diverse declinations, the gallery of characters embraces the entire world of knowledge. The title refers to a famous quote by Heraclitus that stood out on the front of the architrave of the entrance door of Heidegger's famous hütte in Todtnauberg, reconstructed in real size within the spaces of the Foundation . The hut, ideally attributable to the memory of the philosopher, is a work that contains a series of sculptures created by the artist specifically for this exhibition . The works, as the public proceeds through the exhibition, are revealed, weaving a game of continuous references and exchanges between container and content, visible and invisible, individual experience and collective experience.

The works presented all refer to the idea of support , aid, help, both physical and emotional, to which all humanity resorts . The supports on which man acts every day, in the idea proposed by the exhibition project, are the stage of existence . Each sign within the composition can be traced back to a symbolic meaning and has to do with the human story. The floor on which the visitor walks is made up of 210 planks in red melted wax. The chair on which a pianist sits to perform has a newspaper stuck in the back which will be replaced every day with that of the current date, indicating a continuous change in something that is always apparently the same as itself. Some sheets of paper rest on a plinth and are ideally waiting to be filled with ideas.
