We live surrounded and connected to pervasive social media, we use mobile phones as pacemakers, surveillance cameras spy on us in our public and private spaces, we delegate our decisions to algorithms and we entrust Big Data and artificial intelligence with the interpretation of the present and the prediction of the future.
Art aspires to create a space of freedom and resistance to the inexorable dictatorship of technology and so the works of three Italian artists Danilo Correale, Irene Fenara and Invernomuto, brought together in Digital Antibodies, present new relationships between our digitized bodies and reality Contemporary. In A Spectacular Miscalculation of Global Asymmetry Danilo Correale transforms the exhibition space into an alienating environment, a sort of office of a US multinational company in which the pictorial works, apparently abstract signs on canvas, represent quantitative and qualitative information in a declared antithesis with the irony of screensavers on idle monitors.
Occupying another, almost invisible space within the exhibition hall, the video work Struggle for Life☉ by Irene Fenara presented on a smartwatch invites us to reflect on the mechanism of contemporary surveillance, on its contradictions and on the individual freedom with which it can be dammed.
Through a rhythmic, poetic and dystopian journey, in Vers l'Europa deserta, Terra Incognita, the Invernomuto duo investigates the models of youthful self-representation shared online and physically in the expanded suburbs of European metropolises.
