The exhibition "AGAINST WAR - gazes and imaginaries" is a project by EMERGENCY curated by CHEAP, promoted by the Department of Culture of Rome Capital and the Special Company Palaexpo, produced and organized by the Special Company Palaexpo in collaboration with the NGO. 

The immersive journey is structured through different visual levels and degrees of involvement, addressing the theme of war in its physical, psychological, social, and political effects. Curators have explored the possibility of entering, in an intimate but non-voyeuristic way, into the stories of the victims, as well as into the resistance of those who oppose it, practicing civil disobedience, publicly protesting, advocating for disarmament and solidarity. And by treating the wounds of others, as EMERGENCY has been doing since May 1994, the founding date of an organization that practices medicine as a tool for peace. 

Taken from the historical archive, the large black and white photographs of EMERGENCY's care activities, from Afghanistan to Iraq, alternate with CHEAP's posters, coming from some of the most important interventions carried out by the collective in recent years - Disobey with generosity, Sabotage with grace, Agitate - and those of the artists invited to participate in the exhibition, from Italy to Brazil, from Spain to Poland. Distant geographies and different sensitivities, united by the belief that, as the messages engraved along the exhibition path declare, no war is inevitable, that war does not restore rights but redefines powers. This is also evidenced by the images inside a box, shielded by a slit: photographs of people and their bodies overwhelmed by the violence of war but shielded from view, can only be seen if one approaches the slit. These are smaller, explicit, raw photographs that require a careful, conscious look. They are an appeal that EMERGENCY and CHEAP address to the public, a request for approach, for assuming responsibility.
