For the fourth appointment of the AlbumArte | Flash! , on 21 May 2019 at AlbumArte, an independent space for contemporary art in Rome, inaugurates the solo exhibition by Delphine Valli entitled CLIMAX , curated by Claudio Libero Pisano.
For this first solo show at AlbumArte, Delphine Valli (Champigny-sur-Marne, France, 1972, lives and works between France and Italy) creates a series of unpublished and site specific wall works, wall drawings and linear elements. making the exhibition a set of plastic interventions that activate an unexpected dialogue with the entire exhibition space. The works interact and complement each other in the challenge with the solidity of the existing architecture, forming an atypical cohesion.
Interventions with light and apparently inconsistent forms return a different look at the pre-established forms and suggest a way out of the already defined. The observer's security with respect to the solidity of things is undermined, in an ongoing process, CLIMAX offers multiple readings and meanings, which add to each other.
A geometric shape lends itself to different meanings, it can be a flywheel for other perceptual strategies if you are willing to rethink the point of view. In this deliberately fluctuating path, the attention is in the value of emptiness, understood as potential and never as lack.
The artist has always explored, in his research, the tensions that are created between the artistic intervention and the space, involving it as a plastic element, since his works do not speak so much about themselves as about the space with which they enter into relationship. The ambiguous geometry of his installations triggers an unprecedented relationship with the perception of known reality, aimed at considering the extraordinary nature of every ordinary thing. Valli argues that if sculpture is the art of space, it questions its substance: using color on the wall in sculpture wants to stimulate space and not the surface: painting becomes immaterial in sculpture. It is a question of manifesting a passage from the material to the immaterial and vice versa, bringing the gaze to oscillate between the two, to reach a synthesis that short-circuits the automatism with which one tends to welcome a known or recognized space.

The exhibition enjoys the patronage of the Institut français Italia . Special thanks to the Labics architecture studio and to IRI REAL ESTATE | Investments and real estate sales.
Thanks to Casale del Giglio for the wine tasting on the opening day.
