These one hundred drawings were chosen among the many made by Bazlen from 1944 to 1950, and represent the visual diary of his analytical therapy with Ernst Bernhard, based on the practice of active imagination: expressing the images of dreams with a technique different from the usual one and fantasies as a key to understanding the unconscious. Bernhard asks Bazlen, a man of letters, to draw, and he gradually refines his technique, starting from pencil and ink drawing, moving on to watercolors and in the last period to mandalas. The symbols, figures and dream scenarios outlined by Bazlen on the other hand, inevitably lead back to symbols, figures and scenarios that are typical of the tales of men since the origin: the traveler, the oriental, the couple, the devil, the island, the game, the port, the journey, death, the religious and "quaternity" symbolism. Almost always behind the drawings is marked the date of the dream and the moment in which it was recorded on paper.
