From 23 September to 21 October 2023
Antonio Carena Award - Second Edition "Tempioggidiani" Collective Exhibition
The Carena annex is pleased to announce the second edition of the Antonio Carena Award, entitled "Tempioggidiani", which will be held from 23 September to 21 October 2023. The official inauguration will take place on 23 September at 4.30 pm. Thirty artists will exhibit their interpretations of pop art, this year's central theme.
The Antonio Carena Award is a tribute to pop art, a movement much loved by Antonio Carena in the early 1960s. Through the shapes and lines of car bodies, he managed to glimpse a transformed landscape, from which his famous skies were born, represented in every type of object: cars, containers, canvases, armchairs and skies of any size. This award celebrates his creative and innovative spirit.
A jury of experts composed of Edoardo Di Mauro, director of the Mau; Barbara Aimar, art critic; Alessandro Chetta, journalist for Corriere della Sera; Bruno Stizzoli, painter; and Matilde Domestico, winner of the Carena prize in the first edition, will select the winner. The final awards ceremony will take place on Saturday 21 October at 4pm.
The first three artists classified will receive a recognition plaque. The first place winner will have the opportunity to exhibit his work in the house museum for an entire year, the second place for six months. Furthermore, this year too the "Social Award" will be awarded, which will reward the most voted artist on Instagram together with the three winners (To vote, follow the Instagram page: @antoniocarena).
The theme of the Award, which will change with each edition, will revolve around a reflection on painting made by Antonio Carena, to recognize new ideas and excellence, as the artist himself would have done.
