The Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art presents Expanded With, an exhibition that looks at the role of photography in the contemporary art of recent decades as part of the EXPOSED Torino Foto Festival program. The exhibition, set up on the third floor of the Manica Lunga, brings together works in which the photographic medium is the starting point for investigating different types of relationships with the landscape. From the performative actions of the 60s and 70s, the exhibition includes works by pioneers of Land Art, Arte Povera and Body Art, also including the use of photography as a conceptual tool, reaching further more contemporary experiences.
Expanded With is part of Expanded, an exhibition in three chapters curated by Marcella Beccaria and Elena Volpato designed to enhance the photographic core of the Collection of the Foundation for Modern and Contemporary Art CRT on loan to the Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art and GAM Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art of Turin. Proposing a single coherent path, the exhibition is divided into the Castello di Rivoli, GAM and OGR Turin venues, and presents photography from three special angles. In addition to Expanded With at Castello di Rivoli, the project includes Expanded Without at OGR and Expanded – I Paesaggi dell'arte at GAM in Turin. Expanded investigates the image as an expanded field, intentionally citing the writings of the American art theorist Rosalind Krauss.
