L'Espace des sciences is a science museum in Rennes. It is located in the Champs Libres cultural center, which also houses the Musée de Bretagne and an extensive library. Founded in 1984, it is one of the most important science museums in France. The spaces of the Espace des sciences are divided into four large areas: the "Sala della Terra" (first floor), which deals with biodiversity; the "Sala Eureka" (ground floor), an exhibition space dedicated to the two annual temporary exhibitions on different scientific themes; the "Merlin laboratory" (ground floor), a space for scientific exploration where it is possible to interact with interactive supports; the Planetarium (3rd floor), a 95-seat room with a new generation hemispherical screen (the third of its kind in Europe) of 14 meters in diameter, which offers 3 to 5 daily sessions. The Espace des sciences has the constant objective of spreading scientific culture in Brittany through conferences, workshops, events - such as the Science Festival - and numerous temporary exhibitions. The opening of a second office in Morlaix is scheduled for 2022.
