From 2 March to 8 June 2025
From March 2 to June 8, 2025, at the Civic Museum of Villa Colloredo Mels in Recanati, the photographic exhibition Infinite Readings by Claudio Montecucco will be set up. Inside the charming exhibition rooms of the museum, over forty shots dedicated to the theme of reading created by Montecucco in some of the most famous Italian and international urban contexts will be on display. Also exhibited will be photographs specifically taken by Montecucco in Recanati, the birthplace of the poetic and literary genius Giacomo Leopardi, whose figure has shaped the modern Recanati from an urbanistic point of view.
Street man, as he defines himself, Claudio Montecucco loves to spend his days observing the life that flows through the streets and alleys of cities. It is in these dynamic and ever-changing contexts that his artistic research takes place, a spasmodic, at times maniacal, deeply felt quest. In his photos, one can feel the predominant desire to bring out the emotional charge of the chosen subjects; his photography is strictly personal, not the result of an artistic whim but of the need to condense sensations and emotions into a shot that would otherwise be lost. His is also the search for perfect imperfection, for a photo so "real" that it almost seems constructed or posed, even though the chosen subjects are unaware of everything. The result is timeless photos: it is impossible not to be drawn to the gazes of these readers, their expressions, their gestures, and the suggestive situations depicted in these images that Montecucco began to create in 2006, his debut project, and which he still carries on with passion and dedication. Intense shots in which cities are depicted as immense open-air reading rooms, whose boundaries, embracing stairs, walls, alleys, and monuments, unwittingly become refuges in which to indulge in one's favorite authors. Photographs that make you reflect and dream, desire to participate in the collective, yet intimate, ritual of outdoor reading, and thanks to which Montecucco manages to bring out that mild and malleable atmosphere still present in the urban contexts in which we live, but often little "visible" due to increasingly hectic lifestyles.
