The Diocesan Museum of Potenza is located in the city center. The Diocesan Museum is located on the ground floor of the former diocesan seminary near the Cathedral. The former Seminary was built in 1616, but in 1943 it was semi-destroyed due to the bombing of the allies during the Second World War. After the restoration and consolidation of the building, it was decided to set up the museum and its collections inside. The collection includes the sacred furnishings of the cathedral, the Potentine treasure and other artifacts of medieval and modern origin. Of great importance is the processional cross of 1714 made in silver by Giovanni Battista Buoncquiring. Interesting is the section dedicated to the collection of paintings, among the most important we remember "the Madonna nursing the child" of the Neapolitan school of the seventeenth century and "the virgin in the guise of a young mother" of the early eighteenth century. Another section is composed of documents, sacred books and the Register of Baptisms, Confirmations and Weddings of the Parish during the seventeenth century.
