From 27 September to 22 February 2026
Giacomo Balla (1871–1958) is the new protagonist of In Visita, the project by Fondazione Pistoia Musei now in its fourth edition, which offers insights dedicated to reference masters of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, through the temporary exhibition of one or more works. Curated by Monica Preti, general director of Fondazione Pistoia Musei, and by Annamaria Iacuzzi, curator of the twentieth-century collections, with the contribution of Elena Gigli, one of the leading experts on Giacomo Balla, this edition sees the collaboration with Collezione Credem.
From September 27, 2025, to February 22, 2026, inside the permanent path of Palazzo de’ Rossi | Collezioni del Novecento, it will be possible to admire, for the first time together, Velmare (1919), coming from the Collezione Credem, and two rare examples of paintings on canvas-tapestry, both titled by Balla Ballucecolormare, executed by the artist around 1924 and belonging respectively to Fondazione Caript and a private collection.
These works testify to the creative period in which the artist, between Viareggio and Rome, elaborates a new futurist season in which the theme of the sea is interpreted through lines of force, dynamic colors, and refined decorative experiments. Exactly one hundred years ago, the results of this extraordinary new pictorial research, dedicated to nature and conducted on canvas-tapestry, received significant acclaim at the Exposition internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes in Paris.
