The Imago Museum - Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art was born in the heart of Pescara , between Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and Piazza Sacro Cuore, on three floors of the historic building of the Ex Banco di Napoli: 1200 square meters of exhibition spaces with collections and exhibitions temporary . The Ex Banco di Napoli is a jewel of rationalist architecture that stands out for the linearity of shapes and volumes. It was purchased in 2013 by the Pescarabruzzo Foundation to create the Imago Museum.
After the important restoration and refurbishment works, the Imago Museum in Pescara inaugurated last February with the exhibition "Andy Warhol and Mario Schifano, between Pop Art and Classicism", with the full-bodied nucleus of works by Mario Schifano from the PescaraAbruzzo Foundation and with famous works and unpublished works by Andy Warhol . The Museum is enriched shortly after with the permanent collections " Art, Image and Reality ", 130 works of the twentieth century centered on the theme of "historical reality" donated by Alfredo and Teresita Paglione and the collection of the "Scandinavian Impressionists of Abruzzo", the largest exhibition of Danish art in Italy.
