The Pescheria Foundation of Pesaro and the Academy of Fine Arts of Urbino announce "Surprize 3", the third edition of the collective of students from the Urbino Academy which, after the success of the previous exhibitions, will host students from the universities of Istanbul in 2019 and Athens in 2020, this year it is a consortium with two prestigious international institutions: the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg and the Royal College of Art in London.
Sponsored by the MUR - Higher Education in Art, Music and Dance and organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Pesaro, the exhibition is hosted at the Centro Arti Visive Pescheria, in the Loggiato and in the church of the Suffragio, from 21 October until 30 November 2021.
The jury, chaired by Marcello Smarrelli and composed of the curators Adrienne Drake and Simone Ciglia, the gallery owner Paola Capata and the artist Pietro Ruffo, selected three winning works from among those presented, one for each participating institution, whose authors the Pescheria Foundation and the Academy of Fine Arts will recognize a cash prize of one thousand euros each, in support of their training; in addition, a special mention was given to a fourth young artist.
Surprize is an invented term, a language game that modifies the English word surprise, to evoke the theme of surprise but also, by assonance, that of the prize. Born as an annual event dedicated to the promotion of young artists, the award is an important opportunity for collaboration and sharing between subjects and institutions active in the area and beyond, in the artistic and cultural sphere.
