The modern art gallery is located in the historic center of Palermo, in Kalsa district. The Gallery is situated in a museum complex of two buildings: the former Franciscan convent of the Church of Saint Anne Mercy and the nearby Palazzo Bonet, in the Catalan Gothic style. The Municipal Gallery was founded in 2006 to its current location with the name of GAM Palermo. The collection consists of private donations and acquisitions of the City of Palermo. They are part of the collection of paintings and sculptures of modern art between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The exhibition is divided into 14 thematic sections and collects 214.
