The Forsvarsmuseet – Museo della Difesa norvegese, is located in the historic Akershus Fortress, in building no. 62, a former 19th-century arsenal in the center of Oslo. Established in 1946 from the merger of the Artillery Museum (1860) and the Intendance Museum (1928), it was opened to the public in 1978 by King Olav V with the new official name.
Among the highlights of the collection are tanks, armored vehicles, helicopters, projectiles, vintage uniforms, ancient Viking weapons, and naval models.
Admission is free, making the museum accessible to everyone. It offers cultural activities such as guided tours, seasonal conferences, workshops, and thematic labs for adults and children. There is also an internal cafeteria and a small shop.
