From 1 November to 6 April 2025
Eighty extraordinary works, coming from prestigious public and private collections, shed light on the evolution of landscape painting between Piedmont and Lombardy from the 1820s to the first decade of the 1900s. An aspect little known, but peculiar to the history of art, in which some of the most important artists active in Italy and Europe at that time were protagonists.
From the countryside to the high mountains, from lakes to the sea, reaching the urban landscapes of the heart of Milan, the Navigli and the Carrobbio, METS Art Paths brings to the Novara Castle a theme always much loved and rich in new insights.
The exhibition is part of a celebration and in-depth study of the figure of Pellizza initiated by METS Art Paths in conjunction with the GAM of Milan.
The last room of the Novara exhibition is dedicated precisely to this "Pellizziano" itinerary and will also host "La Clementina", one of the three "rediscovered" works exhibited by METS in Volpedo. It is a painting that had not been seen since the Venice Biennale of 1909 and was known until now only through a black and white image.
