The monumental complex of San Domenico Maggiore in Naples , in the historic center, is now called the Doma Museum . The Monumental Complex includes the church , dating back to 1283, the sacristy and the cell of San Tommaso d'Aquino and the Tombs of the Aragonese kings.
The complete museum itinerary includes a guided tour of the Sacristy, the Aragonese Arks (burials), the Hall of Sacred Furniture, the Corridor, the Cell of San Tommaso d'Aquino, the Chapter Hall and the Refectories.
Tommaso d'Aquino lived and studied in the Basilica of San Domenico Maggiore . Here are preserved many objects that belonged to the Saint and the Crucifix that spoke to the friar.
The cell where Thomas Aquinas lived has been entirely recovered and restored. The relics, including a half page of an autographed code of St. Thomas, are exhibited on the feast day of the saint. The collection inside the monumental complex of San Domenico Maggiore includes the works of artists of the caliber of Caravaggio, Jusepe de Ribera, Luca Giordano, Luigi Vanvitelli, Domenico Vaccaro, Francesco Solimena, Mattia Preti and many others.
Not to be forgotten are the collection of 16th century clothes and the Salvador Mundi from the Leonardo da Vinci School. The monumental complex of San Domenico Maggiore has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
