The Civic Museum of Castel Nuovo , also called Maschio Angioino , as well as one of the symbols of the city of Naples .

The Castle is located on the seafront of Naples , near the port. Today Castel Nuovo houses the Civic Museum which consists of the Palatine chapel and the museum itineraries on the first and second floors.

The Civic Museum of Castel Nuovo is divided into different sections: from the Armory room up to painting and sculpture.

On the first floor there are frescoes and paintings linked to religious commissions . Among the most important artists in the collection are Luca Giordano, Francesco Solimena, Mattia Preti and Battistello Caracciolo, all Caravaggesque artists of the seventeenth century .

The other rooms of the castle such as the Carlo V room and the Loggia room , which are intended for temporary exhibitions and cultural initiatives.
