From 22 September to 11 December 2023
The exhibition is set up within the Farnese Collection, in rooms XXV and XXVI which house the sculptures once preserved in the Roman villa of the Farnesina. It is a photographic narrative that highlights an aspect of the social history of Naples through the events of an emblematic monument, the Real Albergo dei Poveri, also known as Palazzo Fuga, from the name of the architect who designed it around the middle of ' 700 for Charles of Bourbon.
The black and white photographs are delicately juxtaposed with the white marble sculptures of the Farnese collection. The viewer is therefore immersed in a double level of reading as he walks between the two-dimensional and three-dimensional works.
To enrich the display there are display cases that house shoes and crockery that belonged to the last "inhabitants" of the place, indirectly telling the lives of those who lived and managed the Albergo dei Poveri. The curatorial idea is to put the images on display in dialogue not only with the works of the MANN collection, but also with the architectural details of the rooms that host the exhibition.
