Maison Jean Prouvé in Nancy is a 20th century icon for architecture and design lovers. Jean Prouvé (1801-1984), a French architect and designer from Nancy, built his family home in this city in 1954. The house has become an emblematic work of Prouvé's architectural work. It is located on the heights of the city, on a sloping ground deemed inaccessible, thus illustrating the ingenuity of Jean Prouvé's constructive principles: simplicity of concept, lightness of materials and speed of assembly. The house was assembled over a period of one summer by the architect's family, helped by some friends, starting with prefabricated elements. The internal plan and the sobriety of the layout are of an impressive modernity.
