Created in 2009 by Swedish developer Markus Persson, known as "Notch", Minecraft is the best-selling video game in the world. Thanks to the mechanics of the game, Minecraft is considered a useful learning medium and a tool for developing creativity, logic, computational thinking and problem solving skills. Through the collections and materials kept at the Museo della Figurina - connected to the concept of edutainment, since the purpose of the figurine was to teach something in an entertaining way - a project was developed together with Future Education Modena for the reconstruction of the Museum within Minecraft (Java Edition), with the aim of amplifying the museum experience using the video game, involving the youngest in visiting the museum and integrating the analogue and digital experience.
The museum site can thus also be visited in a virtual version and users can interact with the heritage through a series of games of increasing difficulty ranging from parkour to logic: a real escape room on the themes of the exhibition containing challenges, riddles and tests which will be implemented on the occasion of each new exhibition.
