Modena Visual Arts Foundation presents Eurogol. 60 years of Europeans in figurines, an exhibition curated by Marco Ferrero and Francesca Fontana to be held from 4 June to 22 August at the Museo della Figurina at Palazzo Santa Margherita.

The exhibition, with the patronage of the Emilia-Romagna Region, was born on the occasion of the European football championship scheduled for 2021, in close connection with the personal collection of Gianni Bellini, considered the greatest collector of albums of stickers dedicated to football, and with the Museo della Figurina Collection and intends to tell and testify the very strong link between stickers and sport.

Although the first edition of the Europeans took place in 1960, the first albums dedicated to this event date back to 1980. However, there are albums on previous editions, released afterwards.

The exhibition retraces step by step the stages of this sporting event through the stickers, albums and stories of protagonists, goals and matches that have entered history and become legends.

A section will be dedicated to the world of games related to football, such as Subbuteo, table football, card games and there will be some examples of historical stickers: in fact not everyone knows that the icon of the half-length footballer today sculpted in the collective imagination, it has remote origins and the first figurines dedicated to football date back to the end of the nineteenth century. The exhibition includes two sculptures by Marco Lodola and five large stickers of footballers made by the artist with his characteristic stylized and colorful language that has always conquered the public. Two impressive works on show Colpo di testa and Dribbling : the first welcomes visitors to Palazzo Santa Margherita, anticipating the story that unfolds inside the rooms, where the second is located, which recalls the colors of the Italian flag.
