The show

Broken Secrets is the exhibition curated by Javiera Luisina Cadiz Bedini born in the context of the European project Parallel - European Photo Based Platform, a platform for artists and curators with a focus on photography, aimed at promoting a fluid and functional connection between them and possible institutions or exhibition containers (museums, galleries, festivals). Created in 2017, Parallel, supported by the Creative Europe program and conceived by, a cultural association based in Lisbon, brings together 17 creative European organizations from 16 countries, committed to promoting intercultural exchanges and mentoring to set new standards in contemporary photography.

The exhibition itinerary features the works of four young artists, Georgs Avetisjans, Yuxin Jiang, George Selley and Negar Yaghmaian, who, through photographs, audio and video, explore the ways in which secrets are confided and kept, and what is released in we (or shatters) when the truth is revealed. Broken Secrets investigates the personal sphere but also broader issues such as militarism, migration and oppression, where the realities that have come to the surface lead to a re-examination of the boundaries of historical-political representations.
