The Municipality of Milan and Marsilio Arte present one of the most extensive and complete retrospectives dedicated to Felice Casorati (Novara, 1883 - Turin, 1963), an extraordinary Italian artist who returns to Milan at Palazzo Reale from February 15 to June 29, 2025, after 36 years since the last exhibition in 1989. Promoted by the Municipality of Milan-Culture and produced by Palazzo Reale and Marsilio Arte in collaboration with the Casorati Archive, the exhibition is curated by Giorgina Bertolino, Fernando Mazzocca, and Francesco Poli, among the leading scholars of the artist's work.

The historical connection between the artist and the city of Milan is one of the themes of the major retrospective and the catalog published by Marsilio Arte. Throughout his long career, Casorati attributed a strategic function to Milan, the first city in Italy to have a modern art system and market, recognizing in its exhibitions of the early 1920s the strategic space for a direct comparison with the most up-to-date artistic research.

At Palazzo Reale, Casorati offers a comprehensive reinterpretation of the artist's work, retracing chronologically the different seasons of his production, from the early 1900s to the 1950s. Over a hundred works are presented for the occasion, including paintings on canvas and wood, sculptures, graphic works from the symbolist period, sketches for stage designs of operas performed at Teatro alla Scala, all of absolute importance and refined quality, selected for their exemplary exhibition history.

The loans come from prestigious private collections and important public collections, including in particular the GAM - Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Turin, where the most important and rich museum collection of Casorati's works is preserved. A cornerstone of the project is the close collaboration with the Casorati Archive, which has ensured scientific support and consultation and sharing of historical documentary materials.
