From May 30th to July 28th, 2024, Palazzo Reale hosts the exhibition Piermarini in Milan. The drawings of Foligno, which highlights the evolution of the architect Giuseppe Piermarini, one of the greatest Italian architects of the 18th century, whose neoclassical imprint can still be admired today in the most important buildings in Milan and Lombardy. The exhibition immerses the viewer in the preparatory drawings - coming from the Piermarini Fund established in the Library of his hometown, Foligno - a selection that includes from his early studies in Rome, to the great works in Lombardy, with particular attention to Milan and Palazzo Reale, the venue of the exhibition. In addition to the presence of drawings from the Foligno Fund, some architectural models will be exhibited on loan from Palazzo Trinci in Foligno and from the Teatro alla Scala Museum. The exhibition is part of the initiatives to enhance Palazzo Reale as a member of the ARRE network - Association des Résidences Royales Européennes, which brings together about thirty royal residences in Europe.
