From 16 November to 8 December 2021
Artisti per Dante consists of an itinerant exhibition project, in homage to the great poet, on the occasion of the seven hundredth anniversary of his death.
The project was born from an idea of Gastone Mariani, artist and set designer, former Director of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts.
The exhibition, curated by the art historian and critic Claudio Cerritelli, stands outside the established schemes of the art system and the clichés of institutional celebrations: it is a self-produced event by more than sixty artists who have dealt with the great Dante poem, creating works that are inspired by the songs of the Divine Comedy.
The body of the exhibition consists of sixty-six works inspired by the triplets of the Comedy, created for the occasion on precious 70x50 cm paper by as many artists of national and international importance.
The choice of the same size of 70x50 cm on fine paper is not casual and, on the contrary, brings the practice of painting closer to the poetic one, agglomerating a calembour of quotations and references that produce in the public a sense of discovery and reinterpretation of the greatest text of the history of international poetry.
The exhibition at the Museo della Permanente follows the first stage of this itinerant project, held in recent months at the Rocca Malatestiana in Fano, and precedes other stages planned over the next few months, both in Italy and abroad.
