From 25 June to 25 September 2022
With the exhibition TOGETHER Merano Arte places the theme of community at the center of its programming, which has a central meaning for contemporary society. The COVID-19 pandemic and the recent war conflict in Europe confront us with the fragility of peaceful and serene forms of coexistence.
The different forms of community are investigated in the group exhibition from different perspectives, through the works of Adrian Piper, Anna Maria Maiolino, Ari Benjamin Meyers, Bart Heynen, Brave New Alps and MAGARI, Christian Niccoli, Daniel Spoerri, Francis Alÿs, Franz Erhard Walther , Hannes Egger, Isabell Kamp, Jivan Frenster, Karin Schmuck, Marina Abramović and Ulay, melanie bonajo, Norma Jeane, Officinadïdue, Rirkrit Tiravanija, SPIT !, Tania Bruguera and Yoko Ono .
On the one hand, the exhibition will include a series of works, including When Faith Moves Mountains (2002) by Francis Alÿs, which tell how in a group one can grow beyond oneself and achieve significant goals; on the other hand, works such as We The Enemy (2017) by the SPIT! they question the tendency of groups to repress individuality and diversity.
In the exhibition, the public is repeatedly invited to leave their “comfort zone” and take active roles together. These interactive and sometimes participatory aspects are divided into three sections:
Interact brings together collective actions and participatory projects carried out together on site, such as the creation of a collective garden on the terrace of the Kunsthaus or the reeanctment of the "eat art performance" by Daniel Spoerri Zehn Suppenrezepte, built in the 1980s in Brunnenburg, near Merano. .
