The show

The exhibition "Maalesh- in the footsteps of Jean Cocteau in the Mediterranean" offers the perspective of two photographers - Étienne Sved and Léon Dubois - on Jean Cocteau's Mediterranean journey.

Through this route, the visitor will be led to discover the photographs of the Mediterranean stages of Jean Cocteau and the world of the two photographers linked to this thread tied by Maalesh.

Twenty-seven photographs by Sved were selected from this artist's collection belonging to the Nicéphore Niépce Museum in Cha- lon-sur-Saône. In 2003, this place acquired numerous photographs from its widow, including the working model produced by Sved in 1950-1951 for the work by Cocteau. They form the main core of the works presented by this artist and are complemented by other very beautiful views characteristic of his work in Egypt.

Léon Dubois presents seventeen silver photographs: contemporary views of the places Cocteau visited more than seventy years ago. He made this trip between 2018 and 2020 to answer his questions about the future of the Mediterranean area. What remains of the remains visited by the poet?
