From 2 October to 31 January 2022
The exhibition "Maalesh, in the footsteps of Jean Cocteau in the Mediterranean" offers the view of two photographers - Étienne Sved and Léon Dubois - on the Mediterranean journey of Jean Cocteau. Through this route, the visitor will be led to discover the photographs which testify to the Mediterranean stages of Jean Cocteau and in the universe of the two photographers linked to the thread woven by Maalesh.
Twenty-seven photographs by Sved have been selected from the collection of this artist belonging to the Nicéphore Niépce museum in Chalon-sur-Saône. They form the main core of the works presented by this artist and are complemented by other beautiful views characteristic of his work in Egypt. Léon Dubois presents seventeen silver photographs: contemporary views of the places visited by Cocteau more than seventy years ago. He made this trip between 2018 and 2020 to answer his questions about the future of the Mediterranean area. What remains of the remains visited by the poet?
