From 15 November to 6 December 2025
For this 2025 edition, curated by Vittorio Guidi (Director of the Ugo Guidi Museum in Forte dei Marmi) and Fiammetta Michelacci (Curator), key works of Ugo Guidi's production related to an exhibition path were analyzed and selected, which benefited from comparisons and testimonies of the fruitful relationship that developed over the years in Versilia with the renowned painter Ottone Rosai. A brief narrative dedicated to the tireless artistic production of the two Masters - taken from the exhibition presentation text: 'Throughout his life, Ugo Guidi remained deeply attached to his birthplace. Despite exhibiting all over the world, he never abandoned Forte dei Marmi, where he had his studio and his home in the Vittoria Apuana area. There, between the mountains and the sea, he sculpted.' (...) Among the works preserved in the Guidi collection, a delicate charcoal portrait of Ottone Rosai stands out, drawn with few essential strokes, revealing a deep human connection. Next to this, a second drawing - more defined in features and focused on facial details - portrays Guidi: it is Ottone Rosai's hand that gives us back his image."
From these two simple and moving sheets, the idea of the exhibition is born: to recreate, through the dialogue between the two portraits, the artistic and emotional exchange that united Guidi and Rosai in the Versilia springs of the post-war period. The friendship between the two Masters was strengthened by mutual respect: Rosai spent his days not only painting in the garden but also wandering in the countryside and by the sea with a sketchbook on which he drew schematic designs with pencil and the reference color written, which he would later execute on canvas. Ugo Guidi's works, permanently exhibited in the Museum, are presented in the exhibition as a testimony to the shared interest in the natural world with Maestro Rosai.
