Museo della Città di Livorno

Museo Della Citta Of Livorno

Inaugurated on April 30, 2018, the new Museum of the City of Livorno is part of the Bottini dell'Olio Cultural Center, set in the heart of the historic district of La Venezia and spread over two floors and is located on the upper floor of the Municipal Library. The museum structure is housed in the ancient building of the Bottini dell’Olio, a large 18th century oil deposit built by Cosimo III with large rooms and cross vaults, once used for the conservation of oil and now a place dedicated to temporary exhibitions. The new City Museum also has a precious permanent collection of contemporary art, located in the baroque interior of the deconsecrated Church in Piazza del Posto Pio, next to the Bottini dell'Olio and connected with them, which houses paintings and sculptures by internationally famous Italian artists including Pino Pascali, Piero Manzoni and Giorgio Griffa.
